It is a couple of weeks now since I returned from a wet and windy Lake District and my week spent there in a Camping Pod. The Enigmatic POD

I am off to Cumbria for a spot of hiking, scrambling and general outdoorsiness this week, but with a twist! I am staying in a Camping Pod. Pods look like a lot of fun and I can’t wait to try one out, below is a brief description of the ethos of the Pod and why it appeals to me as a late season alternative to nights under canvas.

Sitting at Sheffield Station covered in rotting peat bog with blisters the size of golf balls and not a bone or joint that did not ache I began to fully appreciate the achievement of the last 2 days.

I had finally hiked along the gritstone edges of the Peak District National Park covering over 20 miles of walking over tough terrain in truly atrocious conditions. I had carried a 65 Litre rucksack containing all my equipment including my tent for the night and all my camp gear, food and clothes.

A statement of intent for 2011!

It was with much enthusiasm that I waved goodbye to 2010. 2010 a year of great highs but oh so many lows, (mainly injury lows) in my case.

So it is with even greater enthusiasm that I welcome 2011, with all the new opportunities and problems that it may bring, (hopefully injury free ones). I have so many ideas bubbling around inside my head and so desperately want to make 2011 the year when I make so many of them happen.
