Let the Adventures begin!

Langdale Fells

I’m off to the Great Langdale Valley next week for a much needed outdoor fix. I’ll be camping in the valley for a week at the beautiful National Trust campsite. My tent will be ringed on three sides by some of the most dramatic and rugged mountains this country has to offer. The fells here are much beloved by generations of hikers, climbers and campers alike.

The Old Dungeon Ghyll Hotel directly opposite the campsite with it’s famous ‘Climbers Bar ‘ has over the years become the spiritual home for some of the most famous climbers these Isles have ever produced, and the surrounding crags are the scene of many of the famous first ascents among that fledgling community.

For my part I’m looking forward to some first class hiking and grade 1 scrambling amongst such peaks as Harrison Stickle, Pavey Ark, Pike O’ Stickle and Pike O’ Blisco to name just a few.

Keep up to date with my adventures in the mountains via my usual Twitter feed @jamehand and check my routes out over at http://www.shareyouradventure.com where there will be live map updates via a GPS feed.

Until then my fellow bloggers have fun and stay safe!
