Life is either a daring adventure or it is nothing!

nothing at all“Security is mostly superstition. It does not exist in nature, nor do the children of men as a whole experience it. Avoiding danger in the long run is no safer than outright exposure. Life is either a daring adventure or nothing at all.” – Helen Keller

Come to the edge, he said.

come to the edge

Come to the edge, he said.
They said: We are afraid.
Come to the edge, he said.
They came.
He pushed them and they flew.

The Paradox of Adventure

It’s now three whole weeks since I arrived back from my little skiing trip to Italy, and the prangs of boredom are beginning to surface. Searching through quotes online researching for my fourth posting under the ‘Adventurous Quotes’ category I came across this little gem – which – coincidently seems to sum up quite nicely my current state of mind. A little classic!

It’s when you’re safe at home that you wish you were having an adventure. When you’re having an adventure you wish your were safe at home.” – Alfred North Whitehead

…….absolutely on the money!!!

Mountains are not Stadiums…..

stadiums

Mountains are not Stadiums where I satisfy my ambition to achieve, they are the cathedrals where I practice my religion…I go to them as humans go to worship. From their lofty summits I view my past, dream of the future and, with an unusual acuity, am allowed to experience the present moment…my vision cleared, my strength renewed. In the mountains I celebrate creation. On each journey I am reborn.” – Anatoli Boukreev
