First hiking trip of the year – Winter in The Lakes

blencathra

Well I’m off shortly for the first trip of the year. This time I’m heading northwards to the mountains of Cumbria and a few days in the glorious countryside of The Lake District in northern England. At present the peaks are cloaked in snow above the 700m mark with more cold and snowy weather forecast.

So the old ice-axe and crampons are firmly packed away in the rucksack for what will hopefully be some exciting wintery adventures up high in them there hills. With some luck and the weather gods blessings I’ll be back with some good trip reports and suitably snowy photos for the blog in a week or so’s time.

Cheers for now, James

  1. Aw such nice photos! I miss England. How did you get on hiking in the lake district? I’ve recently started a hiking mission in Mexico! but, hoping one day to do the 3 peak challenge should I ever make it back home.
